Boring Idol

April 28, 2010 at 12:09 pm (Boob Tube) (, , , , , , , , )

Eversince the departure of Didi Benami, I’m no longer as excited to watch the performance and elimination episodes of American Idol.

I was okay with the elimination of Lacey Brown (first to be eliminated from the top 12 last March 17) and Paige Miles (March 24).  But Didi (March 31), no!  Fine, she wasn’t improving and wasn’t as good when she was in Hollywood during the audition week.  But….. I think she’ll come out of her shell soon!  They didn’t give her a chance!

Didi is a complete package.. beautiful with unique voice… imagine Sarah Bareilles. Nice!  She can give Katherine McPhee a run for her money!  Didi even sang Katherine’s song a lot better (see my previous blog on her/Didi).

Anyway, Idol is now down to 6.  Michael Lynche was supposed to be a casualty a week after Didi left but he was saved (I don’t agree! The judges should have saved Didi!).  The week after, Idol said goodbye to Andrew Garcia (it was about time… I really think he is overrated!) and Katie Stevens in a double elimination as a result of the saving of Michael the week prior.  And just last week, we lost Tim Urban (he made it to top 7 which is… Wow! Unexpected! Haha).

There’s no one to root for anymore (well, for me).  Well, okay.. I’m okay with Lee. Let me count the ways.

Lee has a rock solid good singing voice!  And his performances have been very consistent so far… Lee reminds of David Cook…but a more subtle David Cook.  Remove ‘rock’ and/or ‘edge’ to David, and you got Lee.  Lee just needs a little confidence.  Look at the transformation of Elliot Yammin!  Lee has potential!

Lee is better than Aaron.  Aaron is not even as good as David Archuleta.  No personality.  He can sing but not as great as Lee.

Lee is better than Siobhan.  Siobhan is only good when she’s shouting.  If she’s not shouting, she’s as plain as Paris Hilton! Haha

Lee is better than Michael.  Michael is overconfident!  And that ‘pouty’ lips – I-R-R-I-T-A-T-I-N-G!

Lee is better than Casey.  Casey is not even as good as Bo Bice.  Casey thinks he’s all good looking and all talented but he’s just a plain bloke… I think!

Lee is better than Crystal.  Well, Crystal’s performances have been generating a lot of buzz but she’s not commercially appealing!  Lee is more commercial.  Lee will sell more albums while Crystal… well, she’ll get more approval from the critics but not album sales.  Crystal is actually the better version of Lilly Scott.

This season reminds of the season of Jordin Sparks.  BORING. Unappealing.  They should bring Didi back!

For as long that it’s not Didi haha

March 24, 2010 at 4:20 am (Boob Tube) (, , , , , , , , , )

Yes!  For as long as it is not Didi, I don’t care that much who gets to go home in American Idol! Hehehe 🙂

But I was saddened by the departure of Lilly Scott and Alex Lambert 2 weeks ago and Lacey just last week. 😦

Lilly Scott and Alex Lambert were voted off 2 weeks ago together with Katelyn Epperly and Todrick Hall.

Lilly is like Krystal Bowersox but a more ‘indie’ artist type.  My thoughts – she was sent off because most of the viewers can’t relate to her.  I’m sure she has gained a fan base but it’s just not enough to save her.

Alex’s departure was a surprise for me (it should have been Tim!!!).  I couldn’t think of any reason.  Sayang.  He’s good.  He just needs a confidence boost.  I feel that overtime, he’ll slowly gain it.  But well, he’s done with the idol 😦

I’m not a Lacey Brown fan but I’m definitely not a Paige fan.  It should have been Paige.  I like the tone of the voice of Lacey.  Very distinct.  She reminds me so much of the vocalist of Sixpence None the Richer but with a little more distinct voice.  I thought she’ll be saved.  Oh well.

Anyway, again, for as long that it is not Didi… I’m fine.  Woot woot!  Didi’s doing just great now… I hope she wins! 🙂

Notes from last week’s episode

March 9, 2010 at 11:44 am (Boob Tube) (, , , , , , , )

Happy with the result of American Idol last week!  Yehey!  And I was glad that Didi wasn’t sent home! Whew!

I think Haeley is talented but she’s just not ready yet. She’s very relevant and her raw-ness isn’t translating to ready-ness. Experience experience, I guess.  Sigh to John Parks… well he deserves it too!  He’s way toooooo boring.  And way to ordinary.  He’s not very good at all. Shania, what are you thinking!?!?!? And Jermaine… didn’t I say that you’ll not win the title? Opps I forgot to say that you won’t reach the final 12. Sayonara!

Didi… sing all the songs of Katherine Mc Phee this week! Show them what you’ve got!

And I love the outcome of Survivor Heroes vs. Villains last week! The Villains won the rewards and immunity challenges! Yey!

@ Coach… seriously… you can’t take all that crap?!?!? Are you really a Coach? I’m starting to doubt.

@ Russell… he’s next… I just feel it… well he deserves it. Didn’t they say not to look for the idol. Tsk tsk. I’ve rooted for this guy last season because he was very strategic. But this time, he’s become so stupid.

@ Cirie… too bad for the blindside. JT is much worse than James! He should be voted off next!

Can’t wait to watch the latest episodes this week and watch the next casualties go!

Don’t mess with this song – I don’t wanna be

March 4, 2010 at 12:00 am (Boob Tube) (, , , , , , , )

Don’t mess with the song!
Ayayay!
Did you watch AI last night?
Casey messed-up big time!
The song do not deserve this (OA na hehe).
The only contestant who did a good job with this song was Elliot Yamin.
Others failed miserably, especially Chris Robinson and now Casey James.
Elliot gave the song justice.  Watch this one funky white boy

Goodbye, Randy

March 2, 2010 at 8:30 am (Boob Tube) (, , )

Randy Bailey was voted off last tribal council of Survivor Heroes vs. Villains.  It was the first time that the Villains tribe went to tribal and Randy was the unlucky victim… not!  He won’t be missed.  Sorry but Randy was boring in the company of other Survivor Villains.  Randy stood out in Gabon season but not this one.  It was actually a toss between him and Parvati but Parvati is more fun to watch.  So, sayonara, Randy!

On Survivor Samoa

February 28, 2010 at 1:33 pm (Boob Tube) (, , , )

Finished watching Survivor Samoa (this is not the latest but previous season) and I’m glad I decided to watch it.  And I’m putting this along side my fave seasons: Australia, All Stars and Fans vs. Favorites.

Basically, the entire show was ran by Russell… this small but dangerous guy was able to manipulate and turn things around… making this an interesting show to watch.  The last time I saw this great TV moment for Survivor was the season of Fans vs. Favorites where Parvati won (with Amanda as runner-up).  If you remember, the word ‘blindside’ was a common activity on the weekly tribal council, which was dominated by the girls.  Wow!

Now back to Russell… If Russell do not like you, you’re out, plain and simple.  And despite the disadvantage of his team in terms of numbers when the merge happened (Foa Foa only have 4 members vs. the 8 members of Galu), he was able to swing it and his team slowly gained advantage over the other tribe.  Thanks to his alliances who remained loyal to their team… Natalie, Mick, Jaison and Shambo and helped him overtake Galu. And thanks to his extraordinary knowledge of the game, he was able to find 3 immunity idols without any clues!

Russell is actually a very successful businessman.  He don’t need the money and as he revealed in one of those ‘interviews’ during the show, he just wanted to show the world how easy it is to win in this show.

But he was too cocky and ruthless.  And he was just way too much to handle and listen too…. Did you see the final episode where he was telling Natalie and Mick that he’ll win the show?  Too much… just too much.  It got to his head and with this, Russell also got the ire of most of the jury members who eventually decided to give the title of Sole Survivor to Natalie.  Too bad for Russell but he will remain in my book as one of the greatest player Survivor ever had.

Oh I like ‘Oh my word’ Natalie.  She actually got lucky in forming an alliance with Russell (well actually Rusell had a lot of alliances!).  But she was one of the few (together with Jaison, Shambo and Mick) who never got the ire of Russell thus she was spared in the tribal councils.  She’s been told that she got that far by serving as Russell’s coattail but coattail it is!  That’s a strategy in itself.  She was underestimated but also worked her way under the radar.  Did you watch the episode where Eric (the first jury member) was voted off?  It was Natalie who convinced the members of the other tribe to vote him off instead of her co-Foa Foa tribemate Jaison.  She was too safe but that was a strategy in itself and it worked to her advantage.  Eric’s message to her during the final episode almost made me cry hahaha….

Aside from Russell, Natalie should have been included in the latest season of Survivor, Heroes vs. Villains.  But she’ll remain as one of the fave Survivor winner.  Woot woot!

He’ll not win the title

February 24, 2010 at 8:33 am (Boob Tube) (, , , , )

Ayoko sya…

He’ll not win the title.

Yes he can sing and, well, yeah he can sing. Period.

I can sing… and a lot of other people…

What i’m trying to say is he doesn’t have what it takes to be the Idol winner.

It’s not just about the singing.. more than that.

He lacks charisma, he lacks star quality.. and the attitude.. the attitude!

Look at this video.

Melason in love… hahahaha

February 22, 2010 at 6:06 am (Boob Tube) (, , , , , )

Admit it or not, the latest season of Pinoy Big Brother Double Up wouldn’t have been as exciting and interesting if not for the love team of Melai and Jason.  I liked Paul Jake more but these 2 actually knows how to entertain their audiences!

The Melason (combination of their names) has proved to be a team or tandem to beat inside Kuya’s house.  Aside from leading the text votes on the weeks they were nominated, the 2 have won the hearts (and fancy) of the Filipino masses!  And as a matter of fact, Melai emerged as the winner and Jason as the 3rd runner-up.

Woot woot!

And now their love story will continue with their new show MELASON IN LOVE.  Viewers will have a chance to see how their relationship will progress in the outside world.  Interesting indeed!  They are the new Guy and Pip!

The show premiered today and will air everyday – Mondays to Fridays @ 10am and Saturdays @ 10pm.

Too bad I won’t be able to watch it coz I’ll be at work during weekdays!  But I expect a replay soon!
